Julian Assange is an Australian journalist and co-founder of WikiLeaks, which published whistle-blower sourced evidence that revealed systemic governmental criminality including clear and obvious war crimes.

I am writing to you as a member of your constituent and signatory to a 700,000+ strong petition calling for Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange to be brought back home to Australia. More than a-quarter-of-a-million signs on the petition are from Australia.

Mr Assange is facing charges carrying at least 175 years in an American prison because he revealed the truth about war crimes committed by the US military in Iraq and Afghanistan. Julian's persecution represents a serious attack on freedom of expression and freedom of speech.

I'm writing to seek your commitment to joining the Bring Julian Assange Home Parliamentary Group. I ask you to lobby the government to politically engage with the UK and US to release Julian and reunite him with his wife and children. Quiet diplomacy has not been working, we need political action by the government. The government must at least move him to "house arrest" by October.

Julian Assange's health is deteriorating and the last UK high court decision puts him a step closer to extradition to the US. We cannot let this happen. Thank you for your leadership.
